Mail client freezes
Thought this was fixed, but it stiil happens in V3 - I can send or receive on any single email account without problems, but if I try to send or receive all together the program freezes and I have to close it down via Task Manager.
There are 3 different servers involved, and 4 accounts.
Great to have such a fast and compact program.
Thank you!
Gordon

Re: Mail client freezes
Hello,
we did not attempt to fix it, as it is not clear how to reproduce it...I have 3 mail accounts in EPIM and when I click Send/Receive, all is working fine.
Are some of your accounts on the same server?

Hi.
I have two accounts with one server (Boltblue), one with GMX and one with Phone Coop (my broadband provider).
I have the same accounts and details on Thunderbird and there is no problem sneding or receiving from there.

Same problem here:
2 accounts - 1 IMAP (gmail) + 1 pop3 (on a personal domain).

Re: Mail client freezes
can you do a quick check, please- just go to Tools-> Account Settings-> Edit and check the "Servers" Tab.
Are all details of "Incoming server" filled in? (only Checkbox "This server requires..." can be empty).

Re: Mail client freezes
everthing is checked...
now the problem quite serious!
I added a new mail account that has the same incoming POP3 server of a previous one.
(and also the same SMTP server).
With this situation is quite impossible to check the mail accounts!

I also have this problem. Seemed to occur during yesterday. I have a total of 6 e-mail accounts configured.
Three pop3-accounts against the same mailserver.
1 pop3-account against another server ... and 1 hotmail and 1 gmail account which also is based on pop3.
It does not make any difference wether I try to synch one of my accounts or all of them. Same result. It freezes.
I've checked manually each account ... and all of them have defined a servername (popserver), a port-number, a username and a password.
So everything seems to be configured correctly.
It will just hang forever ... and the only way to get around it is to kill the essentialpim process itself.
I'll be happy to provide whatever you need to debug this.
Re: Mail client freezes
Exactly the same SHYNET's situation here!
I don't post screenshots... the final result is always the same...

Re: Mail client freezes
Hi,
- try removing password from your database, if here is any. You need to make sure EPIM is not trying to check mail at that time, otherwise button will be grayed out.
- make database Optimization (File-> Database management window)
If it does not help, can you delete password from your mail accounts and check for mail? Will it request the password or it will freeze even without asking for password?

Re: Mail client freezes
After some tests, the only way to have the mail accounts working properly is to CREATE different "EPIM data file" with ONLY one configured mail account in each one.
with this "workaround", now I'm able to use my work and personal mail accounts using EPIM.
But, IMHO, this is a great BUG on email module and I hope it will be solved ASAP.

Re: Mail client freezes
I absolutely agree. But I have 7 accounts, both POP 3 and IMAP in my test database, they all are checked nicely together, so it is difficult to understand, what's the problem, although we see for sure there is a problem.

Re: Mail client freezes
FYI,
my accounts are both with a large database [a)POP3 imported from thunderbird, b) IMAP is a backup of thunderbird database]
my work database with both accounts freezes every time i try to use it (DIMS = 525 mb)
the same database with only POP3 account is working properly (DIMS = 469 mb)
This appens with portable version on 2 different PC's: 1 Desktop win XP Pro SP3 with core i7 - 1 Laptop Win XP Pro SP3 with Centrino DUO.
