Simple Sync question

I have a computer at home and a computer in my office.

I would like to have always a unique updated database between the two computers.

I do not have a computer acting as a server that can stay always powered on.

It is important for me that if I delete or modify a task or a schedule the same is automatically reflected on the other computer.

Is there any way to achieve this result? I understand that Google Sync only syncs the schedules (not the tasks) and it is, therefore, not a suitable solution.
I do not (yet) use any mobile device (iphone, palm etc) that could be used to sync databases between the two computers.

I think this is a common problem between several potential users.

Hi,

unless you want to use Google Calendar (and you are right, it does not synchronize ToDos), there is no solution for you. But that should change with version 4.0.

Actually there is a solution. You can use an online synchronisation server - Dropbox offers 2GB of free storage, while Microsoft's Live Mesh offers 5GB. I imagine there are other options too. You designate a folder on your computer to synchronise with the online server. Place your EssPim datafile in this folder. On your second computer link to the sync server and it will set up a folder mirroring the contents of the sync folder on the first computer. Now open the EssPim datafile from this folder.
Now you can work from either computer and any changes you make on one will be mirrored on the other. It's a good idea always to close the program before you go to open it on the other computer - if you don't you may get conflicting copies. The service will highlight this so you can sort it out if it happens, but it's not always easy to remember which version you made changes on, so is worth avoiding.
This assumes your workplace firewall will let you set this up, and there's no data in your file that's too sensitive to trust to this kind of service.
Still I look forward to v4 and a more elegant solution from Max ...
