sidebar gadgets that talk to the database
OK, I'm a new user coming in from another PIM.
As I understand EPIM, there is a Firebird database underneath the EPIM user gui.
My question is: Are there Vista/Win7 Sidebar gadgets that are known to work with the EPIM database to display information?
My need is for a 'lightweight', relative to the EPIM gui, gadget that will display email status and calendar items. If I click on certain items in the gadget, I would like the EPIM gui to be launched for 'real' interactive work. Otherwise the gadget will simply read the database and display items that I've set the gadget up to show me.
Another nice to have would be the option for an EPIM plugin to generate a jpg/bmp file of configurable information and force-set it as the desktop wallpaper. Think of it as a re-implementation of Active Desktop (which was unfortunately dropped for Win7). If this plugin was smart enough, it could generate a jpg/bmp of a defined size. In this way, any sidebar slideshow gadget could pick up the image for display. This obviously couldn't be an interactive display (click on item to launch the EPIM gui) but it would be useful. To me anyway.
Another gadget or tool I will be needing is a direct sync for Android and Symbian devices. I loath Google in terms of privacy and data-mining and would rather not depend on them to digest my calendar/contact info before syncing it to a mobile.
I know it's a lot to ask for a first posting, but thanks in advance!

Re: sidebar gadgets that talk to the database
We use Firebird dabatase, not Firefox.
But this is also open-source database, so if there are competent people willing to implement it- this is possible.

Re: sidebar gadgets that talk to the database
Has anyone done any work on developing a Windows gadget that will read Epim files? I was using a gadget called Google Calendar Agenda,
Thanks
but with the release of Epim 5 and the Android version of Epim, I no longer need Google (can I get a HALLELUJAH?) and would like to find a gadget that works directly with Epim. Thanks

I have created utility that does the calendar part of what you are looking for. It is here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12908.
It is not a gadget but is very small and quick. If there is a gadget that launches programs that might work
