On Monday morning, January 3, 2000, programmers around the world relaxed.

There had been no bank failures; no widespread shutdowns of water, electric and energy systems; and no panic.

The years-long scramble to code computers to recognize four-digit years, thus distinguishing 2000 from 1900, had paid off.

Y2K was history.

Among the many things that didn't occur 23 years ago is EssentialPIM. The personal information organizer that more than one million are using would not be developed for another five years, in 2005. Since then, EPIM has deployed 202 releases of its Windows product, besides developing versions for Android and iOS.

Last year, EPIM for Windows released four major versions—11.5 through 11.8—and 12 minor releases. The Android product, AEPIM, had eight updates for bug fixes and enhancements, starting the year at AEPIM 6.0.10 and ending at version 6.0.17.

We will review in this post how EssentialPIM advanced in 2023 in four broad categories: New functionality, usability, importing and exporting files, and synchronization.

We are thrilled to announce the release of EssentialPIM 11.8, which brings a whole new level of productivity to your fingertips. Let's dive into the exciting new features and improvements:

  • General improvements for a smoother user experience.
  • Resolved synchronization issues of notes with checkboxes via Google.
  • Other bug fixes for increased stability and optimal performance.

The update will automatically reach you in the Google Play store. For those who prefer to download and install it manually, please visit the corresponding Android EPIM page on our website.

After 40 years in data processing, I shouldn't be impressed when a software package like EssentialPIM works, but I am.

Probably the most complicated programming I have done was an online system that enabled field offices countrywide to process transactions in real time. Our tools were COBOL programs, CICS (Customer Information Control System) for the network traffic, and a mainframe database.

I was new to data processing—my background was writing, not computers—so I enrolled in concepts classes and was fascinated by the technology.

Since then, the internet, personal computers, and smartphones have introduced new devices, new operating systems, mobile apps, email, The Cloud and more. Apps like EssentialPIM write to a database, synchronize with diverse services, support multiple concurrent users, host email, encrypt data, and work on both desktop and mobile platforms.

All of this is seamless, if not flawless.

We are excited to share that EssentialPIM 11.7.4 has been released. This update primarily addresses bug fixes that have been identified since the last version of EPIM, along with stability improvements. We highly recommend that all users of previous EPIM versions upgrade to this latest release to enjoy an even more hassle-free organization of your daily tasks and activities.

For a comprehensive list of changes, please refer to the Version History page. To download the latest version, you can visit our Download page or conveniently check for updates directly from within EPIM by going to Help->Check for Updates.

We are excited to announce the release of EssentialPIM 11.7.3. This update brings several improvements and bug fixes. Here’s a summary of the changes:

  • Yahoo mail accounts can now be added to EPIM with enhanced security through supported OAuth authorization.
  • Contacts synchronization with iCloud and events synchronization with Google Calendar have been improved for smoother integration.
  • A rare error that occurred when retrieving new mail for Outlook.com accounts has been fixed.
  • Various experience optimizations and bug fixes have been implemented to enhance the overall performance of EPIM.

On her commute to work, Carmen settled into reading—this morning it was the latest bestseller—and came upon a captivating turn of phrase.

"I want to remember that," she thought, and dug into her purse for a pen and scrounged for a scrap of paper.

What will become of that paper and the phrase that riveted her for the moment?

Carmen will remember because she transferred it later to her commonplace book, a collection of such treasures she has accumulated for years.
