The answers are as varied as the people who use this app to manage their personal information.
I put the question to the EPIM family, first by exploring the forum for posts about EPIM's use and then by contacting some directly about their experience.

Software and friends can be alike — no matter how long you know them, they can still surprise you.
I have been using EssentialPIM since 2005 and was recently surprised by a feature in Notes that I discovered by chance. I'll come to the surprise later, but I had learned a new way to hold my place in a note and it got me thinking about the times you leave your work and need to return. You have an idea where you were, but need help getting back.
We announce the release of EssentialPIM 8.66. The new version comes with a number of changes and improvements, among them improved import of your data from Outlook, improved synchronization with Google Calendar, more consistently working Undo feature in notes and full compatibility with systems that use 3 monitors. For the complete list of changes, see the Version History page.
For new version downloads please visit the Get EPIM page or click on Help->Check for Updates from within EPIM to get the new version automatically.
This update is free for anyone with the regular 1-year of free updates licenses if you already own the 8.6x series version of EPIM. If you need to update your license or purchase a new one, please visit the Pricing page.
We saw it when our children were little and then with our grandchildren, too. "It" is the urge to organize things. They sorted blocks by color, shape and size or rounded up stuffed animals according to their kind. They differed in how they organized, but the children instinctively brought order to their world.
Ours is not a world of toys, but a glut of information that creates its own need for order. This is where PIM software shines. Our first post looked at ways that a personal information manager (PIM) helps to gather your scattered contacts, to dos, passwords, lists and more. In this post I want to consider how an app like EssentialPIM helps to organize what you've collected.
This is not so much about "how to" organize as it is a look at a few tools for getting organized in EPIM. We'll group them under three R's: Record, Return and Retrieve.
